System Operator

We are looking for a technical individual to provide 1st line support to external clients on a shift basis for our System Operations team.

As a System Operator, you will be trained on the monitoring and maintenance processes and we expect you to support your senior colleagues starting from the execution of simple checklists, with the aim of becoming more and more effective in solving problems and complete tasks.

Experience in supporting web site hosting and applications and a passion for Sport are extremely valuable for this role. You will also have plenty of opportunities to help improve the hosting infrastructure and application deployment and monitoring processes.

The System Operations team work on shifts rotations, covering 24 hours a day for seven days a week. The role will be configured as part time job (80%).

Teaming up with senior engineers, you will have the possibility to learn in deep by solving real problems and operating DNS, FTP, Web Servers, cloud environments, database servers; learn to design & operate systems architectures for business-critical systems platforms; manage critical systems for our customers during the major sports events.

Key Responsibilities

Following training on deltatre's products and services, the System Operator will be responsible for:

  • Providing 1st line support directly to external clients.
  • Monitoring the hosting platform and applications and operating incident management service.
  • Ensuring that operations run smoothly, using operational and technical job sheets and checklists.
  • Ensuring that platform monitoring is set up appropriately and efficiently and support with improving ways of working.

Required Skills

  • IT support skills.
  • Has ideally worked in an external client-facing IT role.
  • Knowledge of technologies including:
    • Windows Operating System
    • Linux Operating System
    • IIS
    • MSSQL
    • MongoDB
  • Good written and spoken English;
  • Willingness to work late shifts and weekends;
  • Ability to learn the use of new tools and software.

What else would make me stand out?

  • Experience working as a web administrator with IIS experience, very advantageous.
  • Experience of working with online video streaming would be beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of Information Security & IT Service Management is a plus.
  • PowerShell and/or command line skills very desirable.
  • Degree educated with a science or technology focus (desirable).
  • Knowledge in programming (desirable).
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and ability to handle stressful situations;
  • Ability to problem-solving skills giving priorities to the tasks assigned;
  • Communication skills and ability to work as a team.
