Application Support Operators

Job Purpose Summary

We are looking for an Application Support Operator on a zero hours or freelance basis to work on high-profile international sport websites and sport digital media projects. As part of the Online Operations Team, you will act as the main point of contact for operations during live events and escalate any issues if appropriate.

The role is based in the Wimbledon office and will be on an on-going flexible hours basis. Applicants will need to be available for training ASAP with an eye to regular work from September 2017. Successful candidates will also be considered for further zero hours or freelance work on other deltatre projects should opportunities present themselves.

Due to the nature of the work on live sports events, candidates must be available for work during weekends, evenings and some unsociable hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Website operational support during live sports events
  • Ensuring the delivery of various content streams (e.g. data, news and video)
  • Running various quality checks
  • Swift reporting and communication to clients during the live event
  • Drafting post-event reports
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Person Specification The successful applicant will be flexible and prepared to work occasional long hours, including weekends and evenings (i.e. around live sports events). Training will be provided on our bespoke applications to control and manage complex web operations with live content streams.

The successful candidate will have an aptitude for technology and a passion for sport, and will also be confident and able to act on their own initiative. They will understand the steps required to make various mediums available on different output platforms including mobile and web. They will have a strong analytical skillset and are capable of reacting fast and taking appropriate decisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Computer literate and thoroughly confident with web and video technologies
  • Confident with IM tools such as Skype and Slack
  • Understanding of internet related technologies & applications and distribution channels
  • Ability to learn technical skills and bespoke applications quickly
  • Exceptional time-management and self motivated
  • Proactive in communicating status & issues with the wider team & management group
  • Strong in conferencing and communication with clients
  • Desirable:
    • Keen interest in Golf, Tennis and Football
    • Previous experience within sports websites and/or live events
    • Use of professional video editing and producing software
    • Awareness of technical skills (HTML/CSS/XML/SQL)
    • Understanding of Content Management Systems preferred
